Position Description: 

Community Legal Aid (CLA) is the non-profit legal services program providing free civil legal assistance to low-income residents of central and western Massachusetts. CLA has over 140 dedicated, talented staff working across multiple offices. Our core work includes effective client-centered advocacy and robust outreach to and partnerships with our client communities.

CLA seeks a case manager to assist tenants at risk of eviction and homelessness. The position is temporary and funded through December 31, 2022. The case manager will work out of CLA's Worcester office as part of a team of attorneys, intake paralegals, case managers, and support staff who help tenants facing eviction. The case manager will connect clients with resources which provide rent arrears, housing subsidies, and other supports that will help them obtain and maintain housing. The case manager will serve as a liaison for clients navigating the landscape of social service and government programs that provide these supports.

Requirements: 

College graduate.
Fluency in Spanish preferred.
Demonstrated concern for and commitment to the goals of legal services and to working for low-income people, and ability to relate to and establish productive working relationships with community groups, individuals, and human service agencies.
Ability to be part of an interactive, supportive team with high expectations.
Ability to develop and maintain knowledge of community resources.
Ability to multi-task, operate independently and problem-solve in real time.
Good written and oral communication skills.
