The Salem Regional Office of Legal Aid Services of Oregon (LASO) is seeking a supervising attorney. The person in this position will supervise staff attorneys and assist the Regional Director in other management duties as needed.
Background
LASO is a non-profit organization that represents low-income clients in civil cases. LASO’s eight regional offices serve the general low-income population throughout the state, and two specialized statewide programs provide representation on farmworker and Native American issues. LASO is an effective, high-quality legal services program that is committed to advocacy strategies having the broadest possible impact on low-income communities.
The Salem Regional Office of LASO serves Marion and Polk counties.
Responsibilities
The supervising attorney will assist the Regional Director with the supervision of attorneys and other management duties as needed. The supervising attorney’s primary responsibility will be to manage attorneys’ legal work, including monitoring workloads, providing feedback and guidance on their cases, and conducting their performance reviews.
In addition to management responsibilities, the supervising attorney will maintain their own caseload, including family, housing, and public benefits cases.
Salary/Benefits
Salary based on experience. Additional compensation for bilingual ability. Full benefits package including health insurance and 401(k) plan.

Seven years of legal experience required. Current Oregon State Bar membership required. Proven interest in and commitment to advocacy for the legal rights of low-income and other vulnerable individuals. The ideal candidate will have a broad range of poverty law experience and experience bringing impact litigation and advocacy to address systemic issues affecting our clients. Experience in and/or aptitude for supervising others required. Enthusiasm, creativity, good judgment, initiative, and willingness to work collaboratively. Understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
