Vermont Legal Aid seeks a full-time attorney in its Elder Law Project in its Springfield, Vermont office. Responsibilities include: individual and systems advocacy in a variety of forums primarily on behalf of low-income seniors. Case work includes the areas of elder abuse and exploitation, Medicaid, housing, guardianship, and government benefit programs, as well as representation of Medicare beneficiaries in administrative appeals and Medicare reform issues through systemic litigation in the federal courts.
Salary is $47,085 + D.O.E. with excellent fringe benefits.
Applicants must have excellent written and oral skills and demonstrated experience in public interest law, civil rights law, or legal services. Applicants must be admitted to practice in Vermont, eligible for admission by waiver, or awaiting results of a bar exam recently taken. Some in-state travel required; must have personal vehicle.
