Position Description: 

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Ohio is a dynamic, not-for-profit, nonpartisan organization that protects and promotes a vast array of civil liberties including freedom of speech and expression, racial justice, gender equality, voter rights, privacy, religious liberty, reproductive rights, LGBT rights, and disability rights. We are looking for an Executive Director to provide enthusiastic and focused leadership and vision to the organization while serving as the public face of the ACLU of Ohio in interactions with numerous communities and constituents.

Requirements: 

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree is required, with an advanced degree in public policy, public policy administration, law, business administration, or other relevant field preferred; a minimum of five years of experience (10 years preferred) in nonprofit management, government administration, or equivalent service; extensive knowledge of civil liberties and civil rights; successful record of fundraising; proven track record of creating and implementing programs; effective written and oral communication skills including formal presentations and contemporaneous responses to inquiries from media personnel and others; experience creating and supporting partnerships and collaborations with diverse organizations and individuals; familiarity with the technology necessary to facilitate organizational management and messaging; ability to make decisions and to negotiate effectively on the organization’s behalf; ability to travel throughout Ohio and occasionally outside the state; and successful record of working effectively and collaboratively with a board of directors and a staff composed of diverse personalities and talents.
