The Legal Aid Society of Mid-New York, Inc. (LASMNY) has a staff attorney position in Utica, New York, for its Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) grant. LASMNY is seeking an attorney admitted to practice in New York State. The staff attorney will be responsible for providing a full range of legal representation and counseling to individuals facing domestic violence and matrimonial matters.
The following factors, among others, are considered as qualifications for the positions: academic training and performance; the nature and extent of prior legal experience; knowledge and understanding of the legal problems and needs of the poor; prior working experience in the client community or in other programs to aid the poor; ability to communicate with persons in the client community, and cultural similarity with the client community.
