Northwest Justice Project (NJP) is seeking an experienced and dedicated Managing Attorney to lead its Spokane Field Office. NJP’s Spokane field office includes locations in Colville and Pullman.

As Washington State’s largest civil legal aid provider, NJP operates as a statewide law firm with a powerful mission: Combating Injustice – Strengthening Communities – Protecting Human Dignity. This is an opportunity to take on a meaningful leadership role while helping expand access to civil legal assistance for low-income communities across Washington State.

Make an Impact Through Legal Leadership
The Managing Attorney is a key member of NJP’s management team and plays an important role in the statewide delivery of civil legal services. The position provides direct supervision of the unit’s legal and support staff, offering an opportunity to lead a team while contributing to NJP’s broader mission and advocacy efforts.

What We’re Looking For
Successful applicants must have:
• A minimum of five (5) years of legal experience
• Strong litigation skills
• A commitment to providing meaningful civil legal assistance to low-income communities
• A willingness to support NJP’s mission and organizational commitments

This is a full-time position that may be based in NJP’s Spokane, Colville, or Pullman office. Regular travel between each office is required.

Salary range is $126,800 to $189,600 based on relevant experience plus a comprehensive benefits package.

Requirements: 

• Minimum five years of legal experience with strong litigation skills required.
• Prior experience successfully managing or supervising others in a professional environment preferred.
• Experience in a formal or informal leadership role helpful.
• History of successfully mentoring other attorneys and/or law students required.
• Leadership of, involvement in, or demonstrated ability to identify and successfully pursue strategic, systemic, and affirmative advocacy preferred.
• Commitment to advancing racial equity and experience with incorporating racial equity principles into advocacy and leadership preferred.
• Appreciation of the differing strengths, skills, and styles of those supervised preferred.   
• Good judgment, ability to handle stress, initiative, and willingness to work as a team preferred.  
• Possess strong oral and written communication skills preferred.
• Demonstrated exceptional relevant work experience as well as a commitment to serving low-income persons preferred.
• Willingness and ability to engage with the communities to be served preferred.
• Regular travel to each office (Spokane/Colville/Pullman) required.
• Washington State Bar Association membership in good standing or active license in another state with the ability to obtain WSBA membership by motion is required.  
• Language proficiency in a language spoken by our client communities, especially Spanish, is a plus.
