Position Description: 

Brief Description of Organization:
The Legal Aid Society provides civil legal assistance to indigent residents of Orange County.

Position Description:
The legal assistant will serve multiple family law staff attorneys in the Family Law Department by maintaining the attorneys’ calendars, communicating with new and established clients, composing correspondence, completing intake applications, data entry in case management software, faxing, filing, copying, scanning, and organizing electronic and hard copy files among other duties.

LAS office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am until 5:00 pm. This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week). This hybrid position requires one day each week in-office, though some scheduling flexibility is required.

Requirements: 

Special Skills/ Qualifications:
The position requires strong written and verbal skills; an ability to multi-task and prioritize deadlines; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel; an ability to learn and work in a customized electronic case management system. Must have excellent grammar, writing, phone skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently. Prior law office experience and bilingual in English and Spanish or Creole preferred.

Ability to commute.
