Position Description: 

DESCRIPTION: Community Legal Services is seeking a staff attorney to fill a position in the Public Benefits Unit. The Unit focuses on matters in which members of our client community are denied access to vital healthcare services and essential economic supports. The Staff Attorney will be expected to litigate in state and/or federal courts, as well represent clients in administrative hearings before the Social Security Administration, Department of Economic Security, Office of Hearings and Appeals. The Staff Attorney will be expected to conduct zealous strategic advocacy on behalf of clients, including impact affirmative litigation and community outreach.

Requirements: 

QUALIFICATIONS: The qualified applicant must demonstrate Community Legal Services' core values - Collaboration, Excellence, Respect and Humanity along with a commitment to economic and racial justice for clients and the community. Candidates must: have two (2) to five (5) years of experience in the practice of law; be a member of the Arizona State Bar or eligible for admission pursuant to Rule 38(d), Ariz. R. Sup. Ct.; and have a demonstrated interest in health care or economic benefits as well as an interest in eliminating poverty-based inequities in the civil justice system by providing high-quality legal advice, advocacy and assistance to low-income Arizonans. Litigation experience preferred.
