Position Description: 

The Monroe County Public Defender's Office seeks an experienced and committed attorney with a passion for serving the public interest. Joining our team as an Deputy Chief Public Defender, you will report to the Chief Public Defender and will be responsible for representing indigent criminal clients as their legal counsel in District Justice Court, Court of Common Please, in state Superior and Supreme Courts, & in Juvenile Court within the State of Pennsylvania & to make management decisions whenever the Chief Public Defender is out of the office.

Requirements: 

Minimum qualifications for the position are as follows:
• Must possess a Juris Doctorate degree
• Must be a member in good standing of the Pennsylvania Bar
• Must possess a minimum of ten (10) years previous experience in criminal trial litigation
• Must have served as lead counsel in eight (8) significant cases (Murder, manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, or a felony of the first or second degree) which were tried to verdict before a jury
• Must possess a valid PA driver’s license

Salary range: 
$79,456 - $87,401.60
