Legal Impact for Chickens
Job type:

Position Description:

Legal Impact for Chickens seeks a Litigation Intern.

Want to help animals, do rigorous legal work, and have fun?

Many law schools and foundations provide funding to students who intern at nonprofits. This is an unpaid summer position. Legal Impact for Chickens (LIC) seeks a candidate who can obtain outside funding to intern at our animal welfare nonprofit.

About us:

LIC is a 501(c)(3) litigation nonprofit. We work to protect farmed animals.

You may have seen our Costco shareholder derivative suit in The Washington Post, Fox Business, or CNN Business—or even on TikTok. Or perhaps you saw the California court ruling which recognized LIC’s power, as an SPCA, to enforce California’s cruelty law against agricultural companies.

We’re looking for two summer interns to help design and carry out important lawsuits!

About the role:

Your role will be a combination of (1) helping us design and pursue public interest litigation, and (2) helping with everything else we need to do, to grow our nonprofit!

Location: This is a remote, U.S.-based position.

Timing: Summer 2026

Requirements:

About you:

• Current law student

• Zealous, creative, enthusiastic

• Passion for helping farmed animals

• Ability to conduct legal research on Westlaw or Lexis

• Happy to roll up your sleeves and do all types of nonprofit work, beyond just legal work. You don’t need skills or experience in any area—only a willingness to try new things!

• Fast learner

• Kind to our fellow humans
