Brief Description of Organization: The Legal Aid Society provides civil legal assistance to indigent residents of Orange County. Legal Aid’s general litigation team handles housing, consumer defense, guardianships, minor contract disputes, sealing/ expungement, and more for our vulnerable neighbors.
Position Description: The legal assistant will work with staff attorneys by preparing correspondence, maintaining client files, managing attorney calendars, managing client eligibility records, scanning, meeting coordination, and liaising with partner organizations to serve our clientele.
Special Skills/ Qualifications: The position requires strong written and verbal skills; an ability to multi-task; proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel; an ability to learn and work in a customized electronic case management system; strong organizational skills. Prior law office experience and bilingual in English and Spanish or Creole preferred.
Time Requirement: LAS office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am until 5:00 pm. This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week). This hybrid position requires one day each week in-office, though some scheduling flexibility is required.
