• Advocate for clients with pending criminal matters and pending family court matters.
• Make court appearances with clients for arraignments, pleas, sentences, bail review, court conferences, and pre-trial motions.
• Interview clients and witnesses to obtain facts.
• Prepare motions, briefs, and memorandums of law.
• Review documents and other discovery related to the case.
• Research case and statutory law in order to prepare adequate defenses and motions.
• Travel to various courts for appearances with clients.
• Meet with clients in person and over the phone to investigate charges, discuss strategy, and engage in negotiations.
• Advocate for clients during pre-trial hearings and trials.
• Must be licensed to practice law in New York State.
• Must be resident of Schuyler or a contiguous (Chemung, Steuben, Tompkins and Yates) county upon employment.
