Position Description: 

Statewide Legal Services of Connecticut (SLS) seeks an Outreach Coordinator on a consulting basis for its new Access to Resource for Climate Change (ARCC) project. The consulting coordinator will develop and assist in the implementation of a community education project in the Greater New Haven area, funded with a generous grant from the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven. The consultant will create presentations and organize the community education workshops. In addition, the consultant will create social media content and update the statewide legal aid website, www.CTLawHelp.org with related climate change resources. In addition, the consultant will provide training to staff members on where to find the online information about obtaining help in the event of a natural disaster.

Essential Job Functions:
· Ability to research available disaster relief resources
· Ability to create presentations
· Ability to create social media content
· Ability to create content on a website and train others to find this content
· Be able to travel for 20% of the job to help organize on-site trainings in the Greater New Haven area
· Perform other duties as assigned
· Valid CT driver’s license and reliable personal transportation required

This position has a flexible schedule that may involve some weekend or evening hours. Remote and some in-person work required. This position will start immediately and will end August 1, 2024.

SLS is a private non-profit legal aid program serving all of Connecticut, and is part of the larger Ct Network for Legal Aid. Our services range from eviction hotline, general intake, advice, brief services, referrals, and collaborative community outreach and education events. We are currently developing a prioritized area of practice concerning the effects of climate change on poor neighborhoods and individuals.

Requirements: 

Education/Experience:
· Baccalaureate degree or some college experience strongly preferred
· Applicants with experience or college coursework in communications, social services or related field are encouraged to apply
· Experience in creating presentations and social media content is highly preferred

Skills & Competencies:
Ability to conduct online research and utilize information to create presentations in compelling and digestible ways
· High proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
· Excellent planning, project management and organizational skills
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt your writing style to suit different social media platforms
· Ability to work with minimal supervision
· Highly self-directed and a self-starter
· A passion to work with low-income people and address climate change issues that affect this population is important
· Bilingual (Spanish), a plus

Salary range: 
Compensation: $24.00 per hour. Approximately 15 hours per week for 40 weeks. No benefits provided.
