Position Description: 

Legal Aid of Western Ohio, Inc. (LAWO), a non-profit law firm that provides high-quality legal assistance to eligible low-income individuals and groups in western Ohio, seeks a resourceful, culturally competent, hardworking attorney.

This position will focus on representing older adults living in poverty in the 32 counties served by LAWO with a primary focus on Williams, Defiance, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert, Allen, Mercer, Auglaize and Hardin counties. The successful candidate’s home office can be based out of one of LAWO’s office locations, namely, Dayton, Defiance, Findlay, Lima, Springfield, or Toledo. Advocacy will focus on housing and consumer cases and issues, with some family law and advance planning issues possible. The position will also involve advocacy and outreach efforts with community-based partners.

Requirements: 

Excellent legal and communication skills; experience with computer software and Microsoft Office; ability to relate well with older adults and people living in poverty; and commitment to legal services required. Knowledge of and commitment to issues surrounding Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Racial Justice strongly preferred. Previous experience in areas of housing or consumer law is highly preferred. Membership in Ohio Bar or ability to be admitted by motion or temporary certification is required.
