Overview

You will work with a dedicated group of professionals to administer and manage no-fault arbitration cases in accordance with rules and regulations of the New York State Department of Financial Services, applicable insurance laws, and the AAA’s rules and procedures. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual seeking a career in the legal industry who prides themselves on professionalism, client service, communications abilities, and problem-solving skills.

The successful applicant will work fully remote. Fully remote employees must work from their primary residence, which must be located within a commutable, 100‐mile radius of the regular AAA worksite. The starting annual equivalent salary range for this position is $55,500 - $58,700, and a 7.5% incentive opportunity.

Responsibilities

•Maintains electronic case-related documentation and information in an accurate and thorough manner; conducts initial review of new case filings; confirms accuracy of records and case documents.
•Articulates and demonstrates an expert knowledge and application of arbitration sections of the NYS Regulation 68 and NYS Regulation 35D related to NYSI Division’s operations; Makes appropriate decisions in case handling and properly addresses complex inquires related to their roles and departments; Demonstrates expert understanding of NYS insurance forms and/or related documents related to NYS Regulation 68 and/or NYS Regulation 35D and NYSI division procedures.
•Establishes a professional rapport with the user community, stakeholders, and internal associates; maintains neutrality; responds to inquiries in a timely manner; anticipates, troubleshoots and resolves problems by weighing the importance of facts and issues in a manner that fosters resolution and efficient management of cases; ensures that unresolved and complex issues are escalated to the appropriate supervisor.
•Ensures confidentiality of case information and case records; adheres to the AAA’s information security and data privacy policies, procedures, and practices.
•Weighs the importance of case-related issues; ensures that unresolved or complex ones are escalated appropriately.
•Provides adequate and timely notice to the parties throughout the life cycle of the case; effectively communicates AAA policies and procedures to parties.
•Completes assigned administrative tasks in the online case management system; adds issue codes to the online case records.
•Resolves problems efficiently utilizing available resources, including system data.
•Continues to learn the NY No-Fault Insurance laws and regulations through self-study and active use of available AAA learning tools (manuals, seminars, online training, and in-person classes).
•Demonstrates regular, reliable, and predictable job attendance.
•Regularly attends meetings and training events, both on-site and virtual.

Requirements: 

Qualifications

Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in business and 1-3 years in basic insurance claims administration experience; possesses an introductory knowledge of both the NYS Workers' Compensation Fee Schedule and the NYS No-Fault laws/Regulation 68; or an equivalent mix of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as legal files, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and business correspondence; ability to speak effectively, both in person and by telephone, to customers, attorneys, arbitrators, mediators and employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs; ability to understand and interpret statistical reports, financial/fee schedules, data charts, and graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Possesses the ability to solve practical problems with a variety of variables; exercises sound judgment to make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions, including the ability to determine the importance and when to elevate problems to a supervisor.

Technical Skills: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, the ability to adapt to administrative software and systems.
