Position Description: 

Under the general direction of an Assistant Chief Counsel, the Attorney III/eDiscovery Attorney supports the Legal Division’s litigation work by providing technical expertise concerning the handling and processing of electronically stored information (ESI) and use of litigation support systems including Relativity and CaseMap. The incumbent must be knowledgeable in civil procedure, legal research, and the use of trial presentation software and eDiscovery tools. The incumbent will assist other attorneys in the Department in developing discovery plans and will assist with data identification, collection, process, review, analysis, and production of electronic evidence in the Department’s litigation matters. Subject to experience and the needs of the Department, the eDiscovery Attorney may also provide other legal support for the Legal Division’s operation, including conducting affirmative litigation.

The California Civil Rights Department (CRD) is the largest state civil rights enforcement agency in the country. It enforces the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), Unruh Civil Rights Act, Disabled Person Act, Ralph Civil Rights Act, and the California Trafficking Victims Protection Act. The Department has jurisdiction over both private and public entities operating within the State of California, including corporate entities, private sector companies that contract with the State of California, and all State departments and Local governments. The CRD receives, investigates, and initiates individual and systemic discrimination complaints in its offices throughout California. CRD’s Legal Division litigates individual, class, group, and system cases in all California jurisdictions, including state and federal courts. It also leads education and outreach efforts to civil rights stakeholders. CRD’s Legal Division employs over thirty attorneys and staff throughout California. Salary range: 
$10,225.00 - $13,118.00 per Month
