About GLSP:

Georgia Legal Services Program is a private, public-interest law firm that provides free legal assistance and representation to Georgians with low incomes. Our mission is to provide access to justice and opportunities out of poverty. Position Summary:

The Pro Bono Staff Attorney connects pro bono volunteers, leads and supports clinic events around the state, and furthers GLSP’s ability to provide access to justice and opportunities out of poverty through volunteer recruitment, retention, and recognition efforts. They maintain a pro bono caseload in compliance with Pro Bono Program and local office requirements.

As a member of the Pro Bono Program, Pro Bono Staff Attorneys are also expected to support Signature and Impact Projects on a statewide level. This may include conducting intake interviews, traveling to clinics in a different office region, and more.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

- Recruit, retain, and recognize volunteers that further GLSP mission for clients.

- Participate in identification and screening of eligible clients in collaboration with community partners, GLSP staff, and others.

- Oversee direct placement and management of pro bono cases for local region.

- Collaborate with other members of the Pro Bono Unit to support, enhance, and improve the team’s ability to serve clients and support volunteers.

- Organize legal clinic events, including Signature and Impact Project events, in collaboration with Pro Bono Unit and GLSP staff and external community stakeholders.

- Educate and build relationships with potential volunteers and community partners about the Pro Bono Program.

- Maintain knowledge of Legal Services Corporation (LSC) regulations, American Bar Association, GLSP standards, and other regulations/requirements governing Pro Bono Unit operations.

- In the event of a declared disaster, coordinate with the Pro Bono Unit to serve clients through the Disaster Legal Services Signature Project.

Requirements: 

· Must have completed a juris doctorate degree from an accredited law school.

· Must be a member in good standing of the State Bar of Georgia or willing to sit for next available bar examination.

· Must have and maintain an active driver’s license.

· Must be self-directed, willing to take initiative, and detail oriented.

Desired:

· Prior experience working with potentially marginalized populations, such as immigrants, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, individuals with low incomes, and/or others.

· Familiarity with office technologies and equipment, including Adobe Pro, Docugility, DropBox, LegalServer, Microsoft Office applications, Zoom.

· Familiarity working under grant restrictions, requirements, and deliverables

· Admitted to practice in Georgia.

· Ability to speak Spanish

Benefits and Compensation Information:

$55,000 to $62,000, depending on experience.

GLSP offers excellent fringe benefits including health insurance, retirement benefits, an employer-financed partial student loan repayment program, annual salary increases, generous paid leave benefits, etc.
