Position Description: 

Financial Stability & Housing Law Senior Supervising Attorney Position

Gulfcoast Legal Services, a nonprofit civil legal aid provider, is seeking a full-time senior supervising attorney to join our team. This position will work in both the Housing Law and Financial Stability units at our St. Petersburg office location. Hybrid remote work opportunities, 2-3 days a week, are available after completion of a 90-day probationary period.
The senior supervising attorney position involves a high degree of professionalism, advocacy, compassion, independence, and personal initiative. The successful candidate will provide a full range of high-quality legal services to individual clients and to client groups, including representation and administrative proceedings. This position will report to an experienced managing attorney.

Demonstrated Abilities
• Ability to work on various community projects with different partnering agencies.
• Ability to work independently and with attention to detail on all case matters.
• Ability to deal professionally, courteously, and efficiently with people and clients in crisis.
• Ability to maintain client confidentiality and work independently providing representation to clients in civil law matters.

Education/Experience Requirements
• A commitment to the provision of high-quality legal services.
• Juris Doctorate degree from ABA-accredited law school.
• Florida Bar membership and eligibility to practice law in the State of Florida.
• Prior experience as an attorney is a plus, with a preference for prior housing and/or consumer law experience. Law
school clinical experience and/or internship will be considered.
• Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
• Fair housing experience preferred.

Gulfcoast Legal Services is an equal opportunity employer. Salary starts at $59,850/yr depending on experience. We offer an excellent benefits package, 2% retirement match after 1 year of employment, generous paid time off, the opportunity to work partially remote hours, a 37.5 hour work week and professional development assistance. Attorneys may also qualify for the Loan Repayment Assistance Program through the Florida Bar Foundation of up to $5,000 yearly, as well as Public Service Loan Forgiveness programs. Candidate must complete an application and pass a background screening before employment can begin. GLS is a non-profit agency and relies on grants to sustain its programs. Employment is contingent upon continued funding.
