Part-time Crisis Intervention Specialist

Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, a nonprofit law firm providing free, quality civil legal services, seeks a part-time (25 hours per week) Crisis Intervention Specialist for its Lasting Solutions Family Law Program.
This advocate will provide support at the St. Louis City Circuit Court to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. They will conduct on-site intakes for Legal Services, as well as offer crisis intervention services, safety planning, legal information, and referrals.
This is a new position funded under a three-year federal grant in collaboration with the Crime Victim Center. Lasting Solutions is co-managed by an attorney and a social worker and has an emphasis on working together as an interdisciplinary team towards holistic advocacy.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct outreach at the St. Louis City Circuit Court, particularly during the domestic violence Adult and Child Order of Protection dockets
• Perform screening for legal needs
• Complete on-site intakes for interested survivors for order of protection and family law cases, as well as connect survivors to other areas of law that Legal Services practices
• Offer support and advocacy to survivors of domestic and sexual violence through safety planning, crisis intervention and connection to emergency resources
• When possible, assist survivors with Family Support Division applications and other stabilizing resources or benefits
• Assist in organizing pro se clinic work and services for St. Louis City in coordination with the Lasting Solutions Clinic Project
• Collaborate with the Crime Victim Center and the St. Louis City Courts to best coordinate services for identified needs of victims of domestic and sexual violence

Salary & Benefits Information:
The salary range for this position for 25 hours/week is $28,600 - $33,100 / year. Specific salary offered to a candidate will be based on their experience. Qualifications:
• Bachelor or Master of Social Work, or comparable degree, preferred
• Experience working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence preferred
• Strong problem-solving and de-escalation skills
• Ability to connect and work with low-income clients and community stakeholders
• Strong communication skills, organizational skills, work ethic, flexibility, and teamwork
• Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office and able to quickly learn new systems
• Open to creative and innovative ways of fulfilling the legal aid mission
