Position Description: 

The Development Specialist reports to the Director of Development and Communications and is an integral and central position in the Development and Communications Department. This position provides administrative support to the department to include data management, recordkeeping, mailings, and event support. This position has sole responsibility for managing our CRM database (Neon) and ensures that there is efficiency and timeliness in processing donor information and maintaining optimal data integrity.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative
• Provide support in the execution of fundraising, events and communication
• Coordinate external and internal meetings
• Working closely with the Director of Development and Communications and the Communications and Events Manager in the planning and execution of events
• Maintain all the department’s reference materials and reports on our server and Google Docs
• Maintain the Development and Communications budget
• Prepare major presentations
• Ensure donors are acknowledged in a timely manner
• Other administrative duties as assigned

CRM Management
Oversees management of confidential, computerized records of financial and in-kind donors, their giving histories, and other personal information.
• Acquire a high-level knowledge of CRM database (Neon)
• Pull data/documentation from web and prepare data files
• Produce monthly, quarterly, annual, and other reports as needed.
• Troubleshoot problems, improve overall processes, and ensure deadlines are met
• Establish new fund-raising reports and adapt ongoing reports to track giving levels, renewal rates, pledge collection deadlines, recurring gifts, soft credits, and other data for ongoing and campaign donors.
• Ensure donors are acknowledged in a timely manner
• Execute appeal mailings
• Respond to donor inquiries, donor concerns via phone, email, or letter. Address and respond to issues including problems with checks, credit cards, EFT, and stock gifts.
• Work with the Director of Operations and Director of Development and Communications with the execution of a monthly reconciliation of Neon and the general ledger (QuickBooks)

SALARY-BENEFITS:
• $48,000 - $54,000 annualized salary based on experience;
• Full time position and during high volume workloads (gala and end of year appeals) occasional after hours and weekend hours may be required;

Requirements: 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
• College degree
• Minimum of two years’ experience working with a CRM database (Raiser’s Edge, Blackbaud, Salesforce, Neon experience a plus but not mandatory).
• Strong communications skills (writing and speaking)
• Ability to communicate effectively with donors, board members, vendors, and staff
• Strong organization skills
• Keen attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Office including high proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Mailchimp and Google Suite
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Ability to multi-task when needed
• A self-starter and initiative-taker who takes ownership of the projects they execute
