General Task Areas:
• Review of case files handled through our legal telephone intake hotline covering poverty and
senior populations throughout Michigan.
• Knowing and ensuring compliance with all funder requirements in all files.
• Timely reviewing files for quality, legal accuracy, compliance with federal and funder
regulations.
• Knowledge of various Lakeshore partner program referral protocols, and timely referral of files
to local offices where appropriate.
• Monitoring hold cases for timely and effective follow-up where necessary.
• Assisting with and/or providing guidance to staff attorneys with relevant legal research.
• Reviewing files in such a manner as to provide ongoing training (legal and compliance) for staff
attorneys as necessary.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned by the supervising attorney, a director, CEO, or a
CEO designee.
Qualifications:
• Graduated from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to practice law in the State of Michigan, or an application at the first opportunity for
admission by reciprocity, or by taking the first available bar exam.
• 5 years or more experience of practice
• Demonstrated interest in the area of poverty law and working with low- income individuals.
• Able to communicate effectively, be empathetic and understand the diverse clients of the
poverty community.
• Ability to deal effectively with all people under difficult circumstances.
• Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
• Ability to lead and motivate.

Salary
Starting hourly rate for an attorney licensed in Michigan ranges from $32.21.
