Staff Attorney – Family Law - Legal Services of Greater Miami, Inc.

$60,500 - $73,600 (1-7 years’ experience)
Full-time Exempt Position

Legal Services of Greater Miami and its 30 lawyers have provided legal representation to low-income communities for 55 years. The firm is a leader in the legal aid community and has been recognized for its creative and aggressive advocacy for its clients.

Legal Services of Greater Miami, Inc., (Legal Services) is accepting applications from attorneys admitted to the Florida Bar who have a commitment and passion for social, economic, and racial justice and want to protect the rights of low-income residents living in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. Areas of practice include family law and disaster recovery matters. Travel is required to Monroe County.

The attorney will provide legal representation in a variety of family law and disaster-related cases. The attorney would be responsible for his or her own caseload. The attorney’s duties include interviewing clients, drafting pleadings, conducting depositions, negotiating with opposing parties, and representing clients in court and before administrative agencies. This position involves significant litigation, in addition to client intake and conducting home visits. With respect to disaster recovery services, the attorney will evaluate the merits of FEMA claims, assist with appeals of FEMA, Disaster Unemployment Assistance, or Disaster-SNAP denials, assist with landlord-tenant disputes, and other disaster-related legal issues. The attorney will also be required to develop ongoing relationships with community, client, and provider groups, develop and conduct community education events, and assume responsibility for special projects and clinics as may be assigned.
