Central California Legal Services (CCLS) seeks an Executive Director to lead this non-profit law firm as it enters its 56th year providing services to low-income residents of the Central Valley, California. CCLS seeks qualified applicants who are licensed to practice law in the State of California. The next Executive Director is a visionary leader with a demonstrated passion for serving and advocating on behalf of the indigent and other vulnerable populations, including families with young children, people with disabilities, immigrants, veterans, seniors, and other low-income individuals. Candidates who are highly attuned to fundraising, brand building, and goal setting are desirable for this role. This position is for those with experience serving as the face of a nonprofit organization and a providing executive-level management. The Executive Director supports CCLS in its mission to “Advance Justice and Empower People.” They will report to the Board of Directors, while overseeing over 100 staff and a budget of approximately $10.6 million. Having a commitment to providing quality services is essential for this role, as is being an exemplary communicator, mentor, and strategic planner. THE JOB/ THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The Executive Director oversees the day-to-day administration of the affairs of CCLS, in accordance with the Legal Services Corporation Act and its Regulations and bylaws enacted by CCLS’s Board of Directors. This experienced administrator/manager will oversee an annual operating budget of approximately $10.6 million and a team of over 100 that is comprised of attorneys, paralegals, support staff, pro bono attorneys, law students, interns, and volunteers across three offices (with a home base in Fresno, California). This experienced litigator will ensure junior-level employees receive proper training and guidance. They will also become involved in the community, negotiate with unions, manage grants, and put in the hard work to make a difference in people’s lives.

The next Director will have a history of executive-level management experience, serving as the face of a non-profit organization and guiding non-profit organizations to success through implementation of their fundraising and strategic planning goals. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, easily connect with others, and ensure staff feel engaged and appreciated. They will also bring extensive legal experience and acumen, as well as understand how to oversee a budget, organizational development, and goal setting. CCLS is seeking a leader who can juggle competing priorities, manage time-sensitive deadlines, and strengthen CCLS’ image and collaborations.

Salary and Benefits: CCLS offers an annual salary of $150,000 - $170,000 DOE/DOQ and a comprehensive benefits package.

Requirements: 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be a licensed attorney and member in good standing with the State Bar of California.
• A minimum of (10) years of legal experience in a legal services program or other law office experience, including but not limited to preparing pleadings, conducting discovery, court hearings, and trial

• Ability to travel as needed: Proof of liability and property insurance on vehicle used is required.
Desired:
• A minimum of (10) years of significant administrative experience, including the supervision of legal and support personnel, for a legal services program or other law office setting, preferably in a unionized, non-profit environment
• English/Spanish bilingual
