The Center for Community Alternatives (CCA) is a leader in the field of community-based alternatives to incarceration. Mitigation Specialist: responsible for development of alternative- to-incarceration, court advocacy and direct casework support to clients and families. Accept referral, complete intake, interview the client, obtain critical life history information from the client and from collateral sources (life history records, family members, educator, treatment providers, employers, etc.), and assess the client’s risks and needs. In consultation with defense counsel identifies a lawful disposition, writes and submits a report that outlines important life history information, risk and needs, and proposes a pre-plea or pre-sentence plan that best promotes the client’s successful reintegration into the community. Provide individualized case management services; identify appropriate treatment providers and/or programs in the community and/or the correctional setting; link the client with the identified program(s); and follows-up with the client to promote program engagement and completion.
Qualifications: JD or MSW preferred. Excellent written/oral communication and advocacy skills, and attention to detail. Bilingual: English/Spanish a plus.
