Call for Fellowship Applicants

The National Network for Safe Communities, a project of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, was launched in 2009 under the direction of David M. Kennedy and John Jay College President Jeremy Travis. The National Network focuses on supporting cities implementing proven strategic interventions to reduce violence and improve public safety, minimize arrest and incarceration, strengthen communities, and improve relationships between law enforcement and the communities it serves.

The National Network for Safe Communities seeks to sponsor candidates for Equal Justice Fellowships to begin in Fall 2017. The National Network for Safe Communities is looking for candidates with a commitment to public service and criminal justice reform.

Fellows will have the opportunity to work with the NNSC team to offer strategic guidance on the research and development of innovative and effective policies and practices addressing police accountability and law enforcement oversight. We are seeking a fellow who will assist in identifying, designing, and implementing strategic early intervention systems and internal procedural justice practices for law enforcement. Once selected, candidates will work closely with the NNSC staff to fully develop their project proposals.
