Practice areas include: Education, Elder, Employment, Family Law & Domestic Abuse, Government Benefits, Housing & Homelessness, Immigration, Re-Entry, and Veterans Services.
About CLA: CLA, together with its affiliate, the Central West Justice Center (CWJC), is the non-profit civil legal aid program serving the low-income and elderly residents of Central and Western Massachusetts. CLA and CWJC have a combined staff of over 125 people and a budget of $14 million. We operate full service offices in Worcester, Fitchburg, Northampton, Springfield, and Pittsfield. Through our effective advocacy in more than 8,000 cases each year, some of the most vulnerable residents of our region obtain safe and stable housing; get needed services in school; access unemployment, disability and other benefits to stabilize their income; break free from domestic violence; and obtain humanitarian-based immigration relief. The vast majority of our clients have household incomes that fall below 125% of the federal poverty level. In addition to direct legal representation, we provide community legal education to service providers, community groups, and private attorneys. More information about us can be found at www.communitylegal.org and www.cwjustice.org.
