Mid-Missouri Legal Services is expanding its Housing Law unit to address the increasing need for housing legal assistance, particularly as the COVID pandemic has increased the financial insecurity of individuals and families.
The Staff Attorney will represent tenants in cases involving evictions, habitability issues, illegal landlord lockouts, utility shutoffs by landlords, as well as other housing-related problems.
The position will require frequent litigation in court and administrative proceedings throughout 11 Mid-Missouri counties.
The Attorney also will assist the other Housing Law Attorneys in providing training to low-income people regarding tenants’ rights and responsibilities and will assist in supervising law students and pro bono attorneys who assist with Project activities.
The attorney must be licensed in the State of Missouri or must have passed the bar exam and be eligible for licensure.
