Position Description: 

The Pro Bono Director is responsible for deepening relationships with law firms, corporate legal departments, and sole practitioners, as well as expanding TRLS's affirmative litigation through co-counsel with private bar. The Pro Bono Director reports to the Deputy Director and serves as a member of TRLS's leadership team.
• Develop and monitor TRLS pro bono projects, including limited scope or full representation, participation in TRLS's legal clinics, and co-counseling on individual cases and impact litigation
• Assist in the development and presentation of substantive law training to private bar attorneys
• Oversee and maintain co-counsel relationships and monitor case status
• Actively engage in training and meetings concerning pro bono and participate in pro bono working groups/committees
• Support pro bono relationships between private bar and TRLS attorneys in all seventeen counties
• Support relationship-building efforts with local bar associations
• Work with pro bono staff in recruiting, rewarding, and recognizing volunteers
• Maintain a pro bono panel for case referrals and manage cases referred to pro bono attorneys • Recruit and coordinate placement of TRLS volunteers, law students, and other professionals
• Acquire and maintain knowledge of services available for clients throughout the service area.
• Actively participate in TRLS's development and communications activities
• Ensure pro bono data integrity in TRLS's case management program
• Support TRLS's overall mission, standards, policies, procedures, and confidentiality guidelines
• Work with Deputy Director in seeking new funding sources and/or preparing grant applications with pro bono components
• Work with Deputy Director and Chief Financial Officer in reporting pro bono activities and accomplishments to various funders
• Supervise other pro bono staff as directed by the Executive Director
• Develop relationships with various media to create positive publicity for the work of TRLS

Requirements: 

1. Must be a licensed attorney in good standing with The Florida Bar with a minimum of 5 years of legal experience.
2. Ability to relate to low-income clients and groups with a demonstrated interest in poverty law issues and/or public interest service.
3. Ability to work independently and responsibly.
4. Strong organizational and leadership skills.
5. Enjoys working with law students and private attorneys.
6. Strong, positive interpersonal skills.
