Position Description:

National Center for Youth Law
The National Center for Youth Law (NCYL) advances justice by defending the rights of children and improving the systems impacting their lives. We focus on complex challenges that disproportionately impact children and communities of color and on solutions that require multiple public systems to change their policies, practices, and culture.

Legal Advocacy Team
NCYL’s Legal Advocacy team engages in impact litigation across all the issues on which NCYL works. The team brings systemic cases to improve systems that serve children and youth, often in collaboration with other public interest law firms and with support from pro bono partners. A description of our current cases can be found here: https://youthlaw.org/strategies/litigation- strategies/?_sft_situation=active.

Position
NCYL seeks to hire experienced impact litigators to lead and staff existing cases and develop new impact litigation on behalf of children and youth. These positions offer the opportunity to contribute to and develop litigation in the areas of education, child welfare, health, mental health, reproductive equity, juvenile justice, and immigration. Impact litigators at NCYL may litigate in one area or multiple areas. This is a great opportunity for people who want to use litigation to address government systems that often fail to provide youth equitable treatment and services to youth.

There is one position with a projected start date of September 1, 2021. In addition, we anticipate needing to fill multiple other attorney positions over the next several months.
