Position Description: 

Community Legal Aid Society Inc. (CLASI) (Delaware) is a statewide, non-LSC funded nonprofit law firm founded in 1946 whose mission is to combat injustice through creative and persistent advocacy on behalf of vulnerable and underserved Delawareans. CLASI has offices throughout Delaware.

The successful candidate will develop a practice that will further 1) the traditional priorities of the Elder Law Program which focus on preserving income, resources, and self-determination for vulnerable seniors, 2)the VOCA (Victims of Crime Act) grant, which focuses on the civil legal needs of victims of crime who are elderly, and 3) advocacy on behalf of homeowners residing in manufactured home communities with regard to disputes with community owners. The attorney will be located in Kent County (Dover, DE) or Sussex County (Georgetown, DE) to enhance ELP’s southern Delaware attorney presence. The attorney will spend approximately half of their time working on manufactured housing issues. The attorney will supervise paralegals and work with the rest of the ELP team.

Requirements: 

Demonstrated commitment to supporting marginalized populations.
Delaware Bar admission or willingness to sit for the Delaware Bar exam in July 2021.

Salary range: 
Salary is based upon a negotiated pay scale with starting salary for a new attorney set at approximately $52,500/per year and $76,000 for an attorney with 10 years credited experience.
