ABOUT THE JOB:

The Attorney Administrator (IDA)-Juvenile will oversee and develop programs/guidelines for professional development and billing guidelines and assist in the recruitment of attorneys for appointment in juvenile delinquency cases. This individual will serve as stakeholder in juvenile justice proceedings and work collaboratively to assist with best practices in juvenile justice proceedings. He/she will oversees the review and processing of requests for compensation from Court-appointed attorneys, private investigators and expert witnesses in criminal and juvenile delinquency cases. In addition, this individual will develop criteria that trigger bill review by the Indigent Defense Administrators. The Attorney Administrator will communicate with panel attorneys regarding questions about specific compensation requests and forwards any unresolved disputes to the Fee Audit Committee. In conjunction with the Court Programs Director, coordinate with the Presiding Judge, Judges of the Juvenile Courts, BASF’s LRIS Committee and panel members as well as the Public Defender to institute appropriate cost savings measures and efficiencies. Update and maintain reporting forms, billing requests, and a policies and procedures manual for the Indigent Defense Administration program.

Responsibilities include:

The position requires a well-organized, self-directed and creative individual with high ethical standards, sound legal skills, analytical ability, negotiating capabilities.
Informed working knowledge of the Juvenile Justice System, defending youth in juvenile court.
Informed working knowledge of best practices, evidence based research on juvenile development, and local and statewide reform efforts in the Juvenile Justice System.
Ability to work closely and collegially with staff, attorney members and volunteers, and representatives of the courts. Respect of the Court, and all stakeholders is essential to this position.
Excellent written and oral communication skills; excellent legal and policy research skills are needed.
Demonstrated ability to work on several projects simultaneously and handle a high volume of activity.
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general use of database software
Attention to detail, ability to interpret data and work collaboratively to inform data collection and documentation.

Extensive and recent experience representing juveniles in juvenile delinquency proceeding and/or extensive and recent experience with delinquency law and juvenile delinquency proceedings
