Legal Aid Services of Oregon (LASO) seeks a Director of Finance.
BACKGROUND: LASO is a non-profit organization that represents low-income clients in civil cases. LASO’s eight regional offices serve the general low-income population throughout the state and two specialized statewide programs provide services to farmworkers and representation on Native American issues. LASO is an effective, high-quality legal services program committed to advocacy strategies having the broadest possible impact on client community problems. LASO currently has 91 employees and annual revenue of more than $9,000,000 from more than 35 federal, state, local and private funding sources.
The Director of Finance position is located in the Central Administrative Office in downtown Portland, Oregon. The position reports directly to the Executive Director of LASO and works with the E.D. and the Director of Administration in the executive management team of LASO to provide effective management of the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Finance is responsible for preparing LASO’s budgets, financial projections and grant application budgets, and for oversight of annual audits, monthly financial statements, payroll, contract compliance, and accounting information systems. The Director of Finance is also responsible for banking decisions, cash management and compliance with applicable financial laws and policies. The Director of Finance also effectively supervises the two Accounting Department staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Experience with MIP or similar accounting software is required.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and the Board of Directors.
Preferred:
CPA, or Master’s degree in Accounting and four years of progressive, related experience; or bachelor’s degree and six years related experience, three of which must have been in a management position.
Nonprofit accounting experience.
Experience with federal funding sources.
Experience working with attorneys and with organizations serving low income people would be valuable.
