North Carolina Prisoner Legal Services is dedicated to helping those inmates the criminal justice system has forgotten about. Our post-conviction attorneys evaluate claims of prisoners who pled guilty or were convicted at trial and lost their initial appeals for offenses ranging from DWIs to first-degree murder, and litigate the cases where we can make a difference. Our post- conviction attorneys have raised claims on behalf of our clients in state and federal court, including claims of incorrect or excessive sentences, ineffective assistance of counsel, prosecutorial misconduct, selective prosecution, newly discovered evidence and actual innocence. Our attorneys have been successful in reducing prison sentences, securing new trials for our clients, and exonerating the innocent.
