Legal Aid Services of Oregon (LASO) is seeking a full-time staff attorney for its Albany Regional Office that serves Linn and Benton Counties.
Background: LASO is a non-profit organization that gives free legal assistance to low-income clients in civil cases. LASO’s eight regional offices serve the general low-income population throughout the state and two specialized statewide programs provide services to farmworkers and representation on Native American issues.
Responsibilities: The attorney will be responsible for maintaining a varied poverty related caseload emphasizing housing law, administrative law and consumer law.
Salary/Benefits: Salary depends on experience. There is additional compensation for bilingual ability. Benefits package including health insurance and 401(k) plan.
One to five years of legal experience preferred. Excellent legal skills and commitment to justice for low-income communities required. Current Oregon bar membership is required. The ideal candidate has strong interpersonal, stress management, and organizational skills as well as a good sense of humor. Spanish language ability is preferred but not required.
