Supervising Social Worker

Rising for Justice (RFJ) seeks an experienced and collaborative Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) to serve as Supervising Social Worker in its Social Work Program. Reporting to the Director of the Social Work Program, the Supervising Social Worker leads clinical supervision and field education for foundation and advanced-year Master of Social Work (MSW) interns while providing trauma-informed, culturally responsive services to RFJ clients.
Working within interdisciplinary teams of attorneys, paralegals, social workers, students, and volunteers, the Supervising Social Worker supports DC residents facing eviction, pursuing criminal record sealing, or responding to civil protection order and anti-stalking order cases. The role helps interns build sound professional judgment, clinical skills, and client-centered practice in a public-interest legal setting.
Key Responsibilities
• Clinical Supervision and Field Education: Provide individual and group clinical supervision to MSW interns and oversee the social work services they provide to RFJ clients. Guide interns through professional boundaries, ethics, use of self, professionalism, vicarious trauma, power and privilege, and interdisciplinary practice.
• Student Learning and Evaluation: Design and implement meaningful field education experiences, activities, and training. Connect the Council on Social Work Education competencies and the Social Work Code of Ethics to student practice, provide timely feedback, evaluate student progress, and complete required field program documentation.
• Client Services: Conduct and oversee assessments, crisis intervention, short-term counseling, emotional support, and case management services that are person-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive.
• Program and University Partnerships: Maintain communication with area social work program field instructors and collaborate with RFJ's social work and legal teams. At the direction of the Director of the Social Work Program, collaborate with community organizations and help develop workshops or support groups for RFJ clients.
• Professional Practice: Work independently with supervision and coaching from the Director of the Social Work Program. Use supervision to identify needs, seek guidance, clarify expectations, obtain clinical support, solve problems, and share updates on clients, students, and projects.
• Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• Current LICSW license in the District of Columbia.
• Two to five years of experience as a clinical social worker.
• At least one full year of experience providing direct clinical supervision to master's-level social work students.
• Strong clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis, and trauma-informed, culturally responsive service delivery.
• Demonstrated ability and desire to educate, coach, and evaluate students.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, students, and clients from diverse backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences.
• Ability to build a collaborative and welcoming team and model effective interdisciplinary practice and communication.

Hours Salary and Benefits
This is a full-time, exempt position based on a 40-hour workweek. A fixed scale determines RFJ salaries based on years of relevant experience. The annual salary range for this position is $70,000.00 to $91,335.00. RFJ offers an excellent benefits package, including employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance; generous sick, annual, and personal leave; life and disability insurance; and paid federal and local holidays. RFJ currently offers a hybrid work environment with three days of in-office work and two days of remote work.
