Staff Attorney Opportunities – Three Positions
Join Legal Aid of Arkansas and Help Expand Access to Justice
Legal Aid of Arkansas is a public interest, nonprofit law firm committed to ensuring equal access to justice in civil matters for low-income Arkansans. Our work changes lives by protecting housing, advancing economic security, supporting survivors of domestic violence, and defending consumer rights.
We are currently seeking three Staff Attorneys who are passionate about public service and eager to make a meaningful difference in communities across Arkansas.
Open Positions
Economic Justice Staff Attorney
Location: West Memphis, El Dorado, or Texarkana
This attorney will join our Economic Justice Work Group, representing clients in matters involving public benefits, including Medicaid, SSI/SSDI, SNAP, and unemployment law issues, including discrimination, FLSA, and FMLA claims, plus education matters, including IDEA, Section 504, and school discipline.
Domestic Justice Staff Attorney
Location: Jonesboro
This attorney will join our Domestic Justice Work Group, providing legal representation in family law matters, including Orders of Protection, Divorce Custody and Visitation, Guardianship and other issues assigned. This is an opportunity to advocate directly for individuals and families facing some of the most urgent and personal legal challenges of their lives.
Housing Staff Attorney
Location: Springdale or Van Buren
This attorney will join our Housing Work Group, serving tenants and homeowners facing housing instability and other real property issues, including eviction defense, foreclosure prevention, housing preservation including federal housing, and other housing and real property matters. This position offers the chance to help clients maintain safe, stable housing and prevent displacement.
Staff Attorneys at Legal Aid of Arkansas play a critical role in both individual representation and broader systemic advocacy. Responsibilities include:
• Representing clients at every stage of a case, from intake through negotiation, administrative hearings, trial, and appeal
• Identifying and addressing systemic issues through impact litigation in state and federal court
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with partner organizations and community stakeholders

Arkansas bar admission is preferred, or eligibility for admission on motion, or plans to sit for the July 2026 Bar Exam. Must have a valid driver’s license. Hearing or courtroom experience preferred but not required. Bilingual ability is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits Legal Aid of Arkansas offers a competitive public interest salary scale starting at $72,000, with possible salary enhancements for hard-to-fill geographic locations (not Springdale); second-language skills; and exceptionally strong qualifications. Our comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, and life insurance, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, law school loan repayment assistance, 403(b) retirement plan with 5% employer match, and relocation expense stipend.
