low-income neighbors in need of legal assistance .
The Neighborhood Legal Services staff attorneys are to provide the highest quality of legal
representation and handle all functions related to case work in a high-volume, general law
practice. Legal representation may include providing advice, limited services, referral, and/or
extended representation.
Fellowship Details:
The MLK, Jr. Fellow will work as a staff attorney to provide legal representation and address
legal issues related to housing insecurity including eviction prevention and other legal
barriers to housing stability. The position will require courtroom appearances as well as
phone advice and consultation.
Additionally, the MLK, Jr. Fellow will assist PLAN, Inc. to advance the priority initiatives which
includes, but is not limited, to in-person and virtual training facilitation.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Staff Attorney - Family Law, provides the highest quality of legal representation and handles all functions related to case work in a high-volume, general law practice. This work involves providing legal representation to crime victims seeking relief under the Sexual Violence or Intimidation Protection Act and the Protection from Abuse Act; in need of representation with custody matters which will improve victim safety and the safety and well-being of the victim’s children; and who may require representation on housing, expungement, and consumer matters.
Legal representation may include providing advice, limited services, referral, and/or extended representation. The Staff Attorney is specially trained in domestic and sexual violence dynamics and trauma and works with attorneys, paralegals, social workers, law students, domestic violence advocates, and others to ensure that the emergency needs of each applicant are being explored and pursued.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Staff Attorney – Family Defense Project provides the highest quality of legal representation
and handles all functions in representing parents in dependency cases who cannot be represented by
the Juvenile Court Project (JCP) due to a conflict of interest. Legal representation may include
providing advice, limited services, referral, and/or extended representation. The Staff Attorneys
work is part of a interdisciplinary legal team to engage parents in the dependency process and
provide them with a high- quality legal defense. This includes prioritizing client relationships
and communications, a commitment to case preparation and strong advocacy inside and outside of
court. This also includes working in tandem with the multidisciplinary team to ensure that parents
receive support and services that are well-tailored to expedite safe and lasting reunification and
heal the family.
