NLADA and the Cook County Public Defenders will co-host the 2026 American Council of Chief Defenders (ACCD) Training on April 9-10, 2026, in Chicago, IL.
In a time of shifting political landscapes and increasing challenges to the rights of the accused, ACCD offers an essential space for Chief Public Defenders from across the country to recharge, reconnect, and reimagine the future of public defense.
This one-day immersive gathering is designed for thought leaders and community-driven advocates who are shaping the future of criminal defense. It is a sanctuary for provocative discussion, a hub for strategic action, and a platform for renewed inspiration. Here, we will revisit the fundamental principles that ground our work—the Sixth Amendment, client-centered representation, and our resolute commitment to justice, unshackled and unfettered justice.
*Please note: this convening is only open to Chief Public Defenders and Deputy Chiefs.
Additional details, including the agenda and registration information, will be available soon.
