Position Description: 

Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, Inc., a non-profit law firm that provides free legal assistance to persons living with low-income/low-opportunity, seeks a staff attorney for the Marketplace Assistance Program in its Health & Welfare program. Under the supervision of the Health & Welfare program managing attorneys, the attorney for the Marketplace Assistance Program will be responsible for representing clients with complex Marketplace issues and training Cover Missouri Coalition members around the Affordable Care Act, Health Insurance Marketplace, and Missouri Medicaid.

Responsibilities include: responding to client requests for assistance through the program phone helpline; conducting intakes for potential clients using the electronic case management system; providing high-quality representation and advocacy for clients with complex issues related to their Marketplace or Medicaid eligibility or enrollment; inputting data in the electronic case management system; strengthening and/or establishing relationships with Cover Missouri Coalition members to generate project referrals; attending monthly outreach meetings; and providing technical assistance to Cover Missouri Coalition members. In addition, the attorney will be a part of a team of attorneys and advocates at LSEM working to reduce barriers to health insurance enrollment and retention.

This position is anticipated to be for 12 months only, under a current grant. It is our hope that the grant will be renewed but that is not guaranteed.
Salary and Benefits Information:

Requirements: 

The attorney for the Marketplace Assistance Program Complex Case Project should have excellent interpersonal skills, a strong ability to form collaborative partnerships, excellent writing ability, and computer proficiency. Knowledge of Health Care reform and experience with community outreach and assisting low-income families preferred. Compliance with various grant reporting needs and applicable regulations required. Must be admitted to the Bar in Missouri or able to practice while awaiting admission.
