Vera seeks an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work as a Special Assistant in support of Vera’s Director of Programs and Strategy (DPS) and Vera’s Executive Vice President and Special Counsel (EVPSC).
Responsibilities:
The Special Assistant assists with all aspects of day to day support and management of the DPS and EVPSC’s responsibilities. This may include: scheduling, expense reports, managing external and major donor relationships, planning meetings and convenings, supporting staff in submitting federal and foundation grants proposals, and assisting with hiring and consultant contracting, and more. The Special Assistant also has the opportunity to independently manage other organizational initiatives and partnerships.
The Special Assistant is willing to take initiative and responsibility, and thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. Excellent writing and organizational skills and an interest in criminal justice are essential.
For this position, Vera is looking for applicants with:
•Some college credits and 1-3 years work experience;
•A demonstrated interest in or knowledge of criminal justice, public policy, or social justice topics;
•Excellent writing and communication skills;
•Excellent organizational skills;
•Excellent strategic, problem-solving, and analytic skills;
• Ability to work on multiple projects effectively and efficiently, both independently and collaboratively with a team;
•Experience or training in development, or interest in developing fundraising skills;
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint; and
•A commitment to a collegial workplace.
