Position Description: 

The Texas Civil Rights Project (“TCRP”) seeks an attorney for its Racial & Economic Justice Program. This position is based in our Alamo, Texas office in the Rio Grande Valley and will focus on impact litigation and other advocacy on behalf of immigrants and their communities. Position Overview

Our new Racial & Economic Justice attorney will work closely with Program Director Efrén C. Olivares to develop and implement TCRP’s litigation strategy to challenge unjust immigration laws and policies and protect the constitutional rights of immigrants and their communities in the face of new threats. The attorney will have an active caseload and will spend most of his/her time developing and/or litigating impact cases in state and federal court. In addition, the attorney will contribute to TCRP’s public education and advocacy efforts in this area, by providing a leading voice on racial and economic justice issues in Texas, particularly the systemic discrimination faced by immigrant families.

Compensation

TCRP offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits, including employer-paid health insurance, four weeks paid vacation, six weeks paid family leave (with avenues to extend leave to 12 weeks in total) and extensive holidays.

Requirements: 

Qualifications
• Minimum of one year post-J.D. experience, preferably with significant civil litigation experience
• Meaningful experience with immigrant rights issues
• Ability to build and successfully manage coalitions
• Track record of working collaboratively with diverse groups of individuals
• Excellent writing and oral communication skills
• Licensed to practice in Texas
• Fluency in Spanish is required
