The New Mexico Center on Law and Poverty is hiring an Attorney or Policy Advocate to advance innovative changes to the healthcare system for children and families.

We seek a dynamic attorney or policy advocate to work on major system-wide reforms to healthcare in New Mexico. NMCLP’s Healthcare team is working with community leaders to advance innovative solutions to make healthcare affordable for all New Mexicans, fix barriers to Medicaid, reduce medical debt, and ensure access to care. The work builds upon successful campaign efforts to secure policies prioritized by immigrant, Native American and low-income communities, and in collaboration with a broad network of community partners, leaders, and advocates.
This position will conduct policy advocacy and analysis, legislative efforts, media work, community education, and coalition-building – with a special focus of working with immigrant communities on healthcare access barriers. Attorneys will provide legal representation and may conduct impact litigation. The role can be tailored to applicants with management experience or provide opportunities for professional development to grow your management skills.

Full-time (40 hours).
Hybrid in-person and remote work, with some in-person events and occasional in-state and out-of-state travel.

Preferred: two or more years experience with legal representation and/or policy advocacy; experience with lobbying, legislative, and government processes, budget analysis, media work, campaign strategy and coalition building
