We are seeking the assistance of one or more contract attorneys to assist LSNJ in its Tax Legal Assistance Project (TLAP). TLAP provides assistance to New Jersey residents facing problems with their federal taxes. Funded in part by the IRS Low Income Taxpayer Clinic program, the mission of the unit is to educate taxpayers, represent and advocate for clients in tax controversies, report on systemic problems, and help ensure the fairness and integrity of the tax system.

Requirements: 

The contract attorney will represent clients with legal issues through the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic in Edison, NJ. The ability to work and communicate effectively with clients with low income and colleagues is essential. Strong candidates will have a minimum of three years of legal experience as a tax attorney. Must be admitted to the US Tax Court or be eligible to apply. An ideal candidate would be familiar with all aspects of tax controversy work including but not limited to collections, representation in the US Tax Court, Offers in Compromise, Examinations, and Appeals.
