Position Description: 

Atlanta Legal Aid Society (“Legal Aid”) seeks an Accounting Associate to work at its headquarters in downtown Atlanta. Our non-profit law firm represents low-income people in a variety of civil legal matters.

Responsibilities: The Accounting Associate works closely with the Director of Finance performing a variety of duties including accounts payable, recording cash receipts, and making bank deposits; preparing and processing payroll; timekeeping; maintaining and filing accounting records; and other tasks as needed.

Qualifications: Applicants must have at least 3 years of experience with general accounting functions and payroll processing. Experience with non-profit accounting and/or Paylocity payroll service is highly preferred. Communication and listening skills, experience with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, the ability to work in a team and alone, adaptability, and appreciation of diversity are required. Applicants must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Salary and Benefits: The hours for this position are 20 – 37.5 hours a week. The salary is $45,600+ depending on experience and the number of hours worked per week. Salaries increase annually based on a salary scale. The program provides generous fringe benefits including 13 paid holidays, 6 weeks paid time off, 6 weeks parental leave; health, life, and long and short-term disability insurance; partial payment for dependent health insurance; a salary reduction option for a flexible spending account; educational loan reimbursement up to $600 per month (after a set off of other loan reimbursement amounts); and a voluntary tax-sheltered annuity with 3% match. Legal Aid also offers a hybrid work schedule that allows staff to work up to 2 days remotely subject to management approval and a probationary employment period.
