Position Description: 

Three Rivers Legal Services, Inc. (TRLS) has an immediate opening for a Deputy Director. The Deputy Director assists the Executive Director in the general administration and management of the program. Primary responsibilities will include grant management and compliance, fundraising, training, and recruitment. TRLS is a nonprofit law firm that provides free legal assistance to low income clients, the elderly and underserved populations. TRLS is dedicated to the provision of quality legal assistance and to community empowerment through preventive legal education and outreach.

Essential Duties:
• Work with Executive Director to develop and implement policies, procedures, and goals for program operation.
• Make internal programmatic decisions when the Executive Director is not available or delegates authority.
• Assist Executive Director in preparing grant applications and grant reports
• Assist Executive Director in researching, identifying, and evaluating funding opportunities.
• Prepare grant applications and reports.
• Monitor compliance with funder requirements, grant assurances, and contract deliverables.
• Develop short and long-term development strategies to ensure financial health of the program, in conjunction with Executive Director, Finance Director, TRLS Board of Directors, and TRLS fundraising committee.
• Assist Executive Director with development of annual fundraising plan and TRLS capital campaign.
• Develop comprehensive annual report for the Board of Directors in coordination with the Executive Director.
• Assist in the oversight and development of other management personnel as requested by the Executive Director.
• Work with Executive Director and HR Director in recruiting and hiring staff and all other personnel matters of the program.
• Work with Director of Litigation to develop and maintain caseload management, case review, and quality control systems for the program.
• Attend meetings of the Board of Directors.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with the legal services community at the state and national levels.
• Work with Executive Director to develop, maintain, and promote sound relationships with community and governmental agencies, client groups and bar associations.
• Represent TRLS at meetings and external functions.

Requirements: 

• Commitment to public interest law and justice for low income and underserved populations.
• Admitted to practice law in Florida.
• A minimum of ten (10) years of practicing law with at least five (5) years legal services experience or equivalent and minimum of five (5) years of experience in oversight and management.
• Experience with grant management and fundraising, preferred, but not required.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse economic, social, and cultural communities.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and G-Suite.

Salary and Benefits: Salary $110,000 plus, depending on experience. Full benefits package including health insurance, FSA Health and Dependent Care, vacation leave, sick leave, 12 paid holidays, 3 personal holidays, short term disability, $50,000 life insurance policy, 403(b) retirement plan with 5% employer contribution after 2 years of service, continuing legal education, and paid membership in the Florida Bar and local bar association. Voluntary options of vision, dental, and long-term disability also available. Minimum 35-hour work week. Office closes to the public at noon on Fridays. Flexible work schedule with remote options available after completion of 6-month introductory period.
