Position Description: 

Legal Services of Northern Virginia is a large, high-volume legal aid organization in Virginia, with 45+ attorneys working out of 7 offices. We help thousands of disadvantaged clients each year in civil legal matters, while cultivating relationships with community service organizations, pro bono attorneys, local bar associations, and other stakeholders to serve the region’s low-income and neediest populations.

Job Summary: The HR Manager or Generalist will administer the routine functions of Human Resources within LSNV and support LSNV’s
accounting and financial processes. The position operates in a hybrid capacity and will be based in the Fairfax office (or any other LSNV branch).
Essential Functions:
• Responsible for educating employees and administering HR functions within the organization, including (but not limited to):
o Benefits administration and employee wellness
o Full-cycle recruiting
o Employee time, pay, and leave management
▪ Partners with LSNV accountant to ensure timesheets are received and processed timely, per LSC expectations
o Employee relations
▪ Partners with LSNV leadership to ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion
▪ Acts as a consultant and coach to managers and employees on talent-related issues including staff development, performance management and feedback, engagement and morale, and employee relations concerns
o Partners with Executive Director to oversee employee grievance process and employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
• Assists the Executive Director in overseeing LSNV’s accounting and financial processes
• Establishes and maintains strong professional relationships with stakeholders, including LSNV employees and leadership, the public, legal aid organizations, members of local/state HR organizations and HR and Financial vendors
• Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; monitors latest HR trends and recommends best practices
o Partners with Deputy Director of Program Services to review LSNV policies and practices to maintain compliance LSC regulations
• Provides additional assistance as requested by the Executive Director

Requirements: 

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in human resource management or related field, and three to five years of professional experience; or 7+ years of professional management experience in the field of Human Resources
• Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines
• SHRM or HRCI certified, preferred
• Excellent writing, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Able to make timely and effective decisions and produce results through strategic planning and partnership
• Experience in a legal aid or non-profit setting, preferred

Salary range: 
: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, based on legal aid pay scale ($62,500 - $72,500 per year). Excellent benefits.
