Position Description: 

Tulalip Office of Civil Legal Aid seeks a supervising attorney for its growing public interest law office that is located through the Tulalip Tribal judicial system in Tulalip, WA, only 30 minutes north of Seattle. TOCLA provides legal assistance to low income tribal members facing civil legal issues that affect their safety, family integrity, health, access to education, and public benefits. TOCLA provides culturally sensitive, competent representation in a holistic manner by collaborating with other tribal legal and social services to assist clients in identifying legal and non-legal needs, and to address barriers in accessing services. TOCLA is an office that is comprised of parent and children’s attorneys for dependency case representation, victim advocacy, and civil legal aid. TOCLA is seeking an experienced supervising attorney to help grow its practice in its current divisions, with a goal to work toward incorporating criminal defense into its array of legal services. TOCLA provides a holistic, collaborative work environment for attorneys to use their skills to help others through casework and policy practice.

Requirements: 

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION
Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school.

MINIMUM RELATED EXPERIENCE

Ten (10) years of experience with either representing clients in civil cases, working in civil legal aid or other court systems, representing tribal members in a court system.
Five (5) years of legal experience with strong litigation skills.
Three (3) years of experience successfully managing or supervising others in a professional environment.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATES/PREREQUISITES

Must be a member of the Tulalip Tribal Bar. *Will allow six (6) months to obtain.
Must be a member of a Washington state bar with the ability to become a Washington State Bar Association member. *Will allow six (6) months to obtain a WA state Bar Association.
Licensed to practice law in the state of Washington.
Licensed to practice law in Tulalip Tribal Courts. *Will allow six (6) months to obtain.
Must be admitted to practice in all Washington State Courts.
Certificate of Good Standing from licensing bar association.
Must adhere to the Tulalip Tribal Court Ethics - Code of Conduct Court Employees Policy.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
