Position Description: 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Individual and Institutional Fundraising

Participate in all facets of LASP’s individual giving program, including developing strategy, creating appeals, and monitoring ROI. Play a core role in strengthening donor stewardship.

Coordinate donor recognition and identify new opportunities.

Collaborate with senior staff and LASP’s Board of Directors in developing major gift solicitation strategies.

Support the Development Director to produce grant proposals, including drafting narratives and collating attachments.

Use LASP’s donor database to create reports, mailing lists, donor profiles and other materials.

Conduct research on foundation, government, and other institutional funding sources.

Communications

Create content for the website, social media, e-newsletters, annual report, and other LASP communications.

Develop promotional materials and flyers for outreach events, in collaboration with LASP staff and community partners.

Attend outreach and other events to represent LASP and take photos for e-news and/or social media.

Organizational

Contribute to initiatives that will enhance and advance LASP’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Reflect LASP policies and values in all professional practice.

Abide by all applicable professional standards of ethics and practice.

Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISOR & KEY RELATIONSHIPS
The position is supervised by the Development Director. The Associate works closely with both the Development Director and the Communications Director.

SALARY & COMPENSATION
Depending on experience and qualifications, a minimum of $45,000. Excellent benefits including employer-funded 401K, health and ancillary benefits, and generous leave provisions, including paid holidays, personal, vacation, and sick leave.

Requirements: 

QUALIFICATIONS
Two or more years of development and/or communications experience. Demonstrated interest in supporting nonprofit organizations and/or legal justice work.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Highly organized with attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines.

Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and/or LinkedIn). Knowledge of Constant Contact, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, and/or fundraising databases is helpful. Video and/or website skills a plus.

Insight into issues affecting LASP clients that may be based on prior employment, volunteer activities, or personal experience.

Sensitivity to the issues and needs of LASP clients.

Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of LASP stakeholders, including staff, Board of Directors, donors, community partners and clients.
