Position Description: 

The DOVE Project Assistant Coordinator is responsible for working with and supporting the DOVE Project Coordinator in the overall implementation of the DOVE Project. The Assistant Coordinator provides comprehensive case management and technical support to low-income victims of domestic violence and stalking who are seeking a protective order. The Assistant Coordinator also works closely with crisis center agencies across the State of New Hampshire to increase victims’ access to justice.

Duties and Responsibilities:

DOVE Project Implementation and Coordination:
• Support the DOVE Project Coordinator in implementing the DOVE Project in a manner that aligns with program values and grant requirements
• Advocate on behalf of survivors with crisis service advocates, legal systems, and other agencies depending on each victim’s needs
• Provide technical assistance to volunteer lawyers, crisis center agencies, court staff, law enforcement agencies, and other social service and partner legal service agencies
• Collaborate with legal service organizations and community partners to increase victims’ access to justice

Case Management:
• Oversee DOVE cases from beginning to end; screen for eligibility, process intakes, collaborate with crisis center advocates in placing cases with volunteer attorneys, and gather final disposition information to close cases in a timely manner.
• Maintain and update accurate files and records, including service delivery, advocacy plans, and other documentation in accordance with confidentiality and grant guidelines
• Assist with case review assessment as needed for Pro Bono volunteers
• Raise concerns with cases to DOVE Project Coordinator as needed

Project Coordination with Crisis Center Agencies:
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with crisis center advocates across the State of New Hampshire
• Provide technical assistance to crisis service advocates regarding the DOVE Project, as well working with attorneys and laws pertaining to domestic violence and stalking
• Respond to inquiries from crisis center advocates related to the DOVE Project
• Assist DOVE Project Coordinator in developing and facilitating crisis center educational seminars to enhance partnerships with volunteer lawyers

Outreach and Education:
• Recruit law students to volunteer with the DOVE Project
• Assist DOVE Project Coordinator in developing and facilitating community education presentations/seminars about domestic violence and other community service partner organizations
• Attend outreach events, networking opportunities, and seminars as needed to promote the DOVE Project and to recruit volunteer attorneys
• Assist DOVE Project Coordinator in developing and disseminating DV and Stalking outreach brochures and other public awareness materials via outreach events, direct mailings, NH Bar news, NH e-bulletin, and other social media platforms

Grant Management/Administrative:
• Ensure timely and accurate data collection pertaining to DOVE cases, and assist DOVE Project Coordinator in collecting data for accurate grant reporting.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
• A demonstrated commitment to social, economic, and racial justice;
• Sensitivity to the needs of people experiencing financial hardship, communication with people employing a trauma-informed approach;
• Knowledge and/or experience navigating legal systems, social services, and other community resources;
• Strong working knowledge of principles, best practices, and promising approaches for domestic violence prevention and survivor-driven advocacy;
• Ability to use modern office equipment and information technology including software applications related to areas of responsibility and has the ability to quickly learn other technology as necessary;
• Cultural humility in working with low-income clients across the spectrum of diversity, including race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, immigrant status, religious identity, physical and mental disabilities, and limited English proficiency;
• Ability to work effectively within deadlines, under stress, and with changing work priorities;
• Ability to adapt rapidly in response to changing information or funding needs;
• Ability to work as a team and with minimum supervision. Possesses self-supervising attributes and a positive, congenial attitude;
• Maintain confidential and sensitive information; and
• Ability to occasionally travel as deemed necessary.

SALARY/BENEFITS:
This position is full-time (37.5 hours weekly) and considered hourly non-exempt for the purpose of federal wage/hour law. Salary DOE, expected to range from $25.00 to $28.00 per hour, plus benefits package including medical, retirement, life and disability and generous paid time off. The DOVE Project Assistant Coordinator position is based in our Concord, NH office.

Requirements: 

• An Associate degree in human service-related field, sociology, psychology, counseling, social work, paralegal or related field; and 2-4 years of experience working with survivors of domestic violence and or sexual assault or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides required knowledge, skills and abilities specified;
• Knowledge of NH Domestic Violence statutes and case law;
• Technical proficiency with personal computers and standard office equipment; fluent with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); develop proficiency with all aspects of 603 Legal Aid’s case management database (Legal Server), including data entry, search inquiries and developing reports; and high comfort level using online tools; and
• Excellent written and verbal communication presentation skills with a high degree of detail orientation.

Salary range: 
25.00 - 28.00 per hour, DOE
