Position Description:

Greater Boston Legal Services (GBLS) seeks an attorney with 4-7 years of experience for a short-term, 3-month temporary position starting June 1 through September 15, 2023. The attorney will work in the CORI & Re-entry Project to assist individuals before and after release from incarceration in sealing and expunging their criminal records, and advising them on their legal rights related to CORI in the context of job applications, job interviews, and occupational licensing. The attorney will assist with CORI clinics, will have significant client contact and will work closely with community partners in person or by zoom and other means. The attorney will represent clients in court in criminal record sealing and expungement matters.

This position is for an attorney with 4 to 7 years of experience. Fluency in one or more languages in addition to English spoken by GBLS clients (such as Spanish, Haitian Creole, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Arabic, etc.) is helpful but not required.

Salary is based on a union scale. GBLS offers a generous benefits package and a student loan repayment assistance plan for eligible attorneys.

Requirements: 

_Massachusetts bar admission and past legal experience assisting clients with criminal record sealing matter is required. Past experience with low- income formerly incarcerated individuals, communities of color, and community re-entry and work training programs, as well as experience delivering community legal education presentations on CORI is preferred_
